Joan R. Saltzman

Joan_Saltzman_picJoan Saltzman has been a resident of Nassau County for more than sixty years. During that time she has been actively involved with the human services agencies in the county.

She is the founder of and past President of Community Advocates, Inc. an agency dedicated to helping people participate in the decision making process of the Health, Welfare and Housing agencies and systems in the county.

Prior to the founding of Community Advocates Inc. Ms. Saltzman served on the State and County mental Health Boards and the Boards of Directors of many related agencies.

Joan is a graduate of Barnard College, class of 1941 and the recipient of an Honorary degree from Hofstra University in 2000.

Currently, she is a member emerita of the Board of the Long Island Community foundation and is the proud chairperson of the Joan and Arnold Saltzman Community Services Center at Hofstra University.
