Annual Spring Benefit Marketplace 2007
2007 Artists Marketplace

The Artists' Marketplace is among the unique features of ERASE Racism's Annual Spring Benefit, “A Common Thread: Celebrating People of the African Diaspora.” Guests were enticed by a sumptuous visual display of fine art and elegant artisan craft wares.

This year's marketplace not only brought beautiful items for sale, it also included an educational display from the African American Museum in Hempstead with Director and Curator, David Byer-Tyre, and Unspoken History Treasures by Ms. Carol Gordon. Featured artists were:

  • Bernie of New York , on Seventh Avenue features the exquisite work of its president, former fashion model, Bernie Rohe, an international scarf and jewelry designer. Her cashmere and furs, silk chiffon and charmeuse, organza and velvet, and her specialty fabric, iridescent silk, are carried in upscale department stores, fine shops and boutiques across the country.
  • Bob Carter – Bob Carter is a Long Island artist and professor whose paintings are part of permanent collections in museums and private collections throughout the United States . It has been stated that “the dignity of the human spirit reigns within the people” that inhabit his compositions.
  • Panchita Carter – renowned jeweler and metal smith who lives on Long Island . Her stunning jewelry, featuring semi-precious stones, makes a very positive statement about the artist and those who wear her jewelry.
  • Must Have Accessories offers one-of-a-kind items including the Mieva line, designed by co-owner, Joyce Williams, and features handcrafted jewelry made with semi-precious stones and accessories by artisans from throughout the world.
  • Zawadi Brooklyn based fiber artist, produces wearable art for women and interior art for homes throughout the country. Her mission, as she describes it, is “ to transform my audience by deepening their connection to spirit and emotion through my use of symbolism, color and texture.”
