ERASE Racism Accredited Charity Seal Program

With a mission to eliminate institutional and structural racism on Long Island, there is always plenty of work to do at ERASE Racism. You can support our work by volunteering. We try to match your skills and interests with what we do.

We have a variety of volunteer and internship opportunities that can utilize many of your skills and talents. We need volunteer assistance with administrative tasks, including updating information, categorizing and filing news and research articles, office projects, mailings and event preparation. We offer a fundraising internship to assist with proposal development and research. We are also interested in law student interns to assist with the housing and public school education projects to include: a) analyzing fair housing enforcement practices and various policies that can foster racial integration in housing in general and affordable housing in particular, and b) analyzing existing policies and proposing new strategies that will create greater racial equity in the resources available for public school education, that reduce racial segregation in schools, and that help ensure educational excellence for African American and Latino students.

To learn more about how you might lend a hand, call Rosemarie Walker at (516) 921-4863, extension 13.

ERASE Racism recognizes the dedication and service of our volunteers, and we appreciate their hard work; they are an integral part of our team!

In turn, volunteers have the opportunity to expand their knowledge and gain the satisfaction that comes from helping to ERASE Racism.

Volunteer Spotlight
ERASE Racism Volunteer Paige Johnston Charles

ERASE Racism’s new E-Newsletter would not be possible without a dedicated volunteer, Paige Johnston Charles.  When asked why she decided to help with the newsletter, Paige said: “Recognizing the need for an updated newsletter, I was excited by the opportunity to utilize my creativity and showcase the work of ERASE Racism in an electronic medium that would allow a broader audience to learn about the work through the use of technology.  I believe volunteering becomes mutually beneficial when you identify an organization or cause that inspires you to promote issues that are of interest to you.”

Volunteers and student interns are an important resource for ERASE Racism.  Matching volunteers with appropriate tasks is not easy. If someone wants to volunteer or a college student is seeking an internship, it’s best if you can send an email to info@eraseracismny.org.  Please include a resume or bio indicating your past volunteer and/or work experiences.  Then be sure to tell us the types of tasks you are willing and able to do and when you are available to work.  You can also complete the form on this page or call the office at 516 921-4863.  Please be patient.  Fortunately, offers to volunteer have increased and following up and completing a successful match does take time.
