ERASE Racism held its 2015 Annual Benefit Reception on June 3rd at the Garden City Hotel from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Nearly 300 guests joined ERASE Racism in celebrating another year of accomplishments and in showing support to this year's awardees. We would like to extend a warm and heartfelt thank you to all the 2015 Benefit Reception awardees, attendees, supporters, volunteers, Partners, Board members, and Benefit Committee members, for a successful event and a wonderful evening spent in good company and engaging conversation.
Congratulations to this year's Abraham Krasnoff Courage and Commitment Award Honoree, Peter B. Edelman, a nationally renowned attorney, visionary public policy expert, and esteemed law professor and scholar, for his lifetime commitment to creating racial justice and ending poverty in the United States.
Congratulations to ERASE Racism's first Labor Leadership Awardees, 1199SEIU UHE and Teamsters Local 237, for their commitment to civil rights and racial and economic equity on local, state, and national levels.
This year's event was a clear reminder that we are indeed "Moving Forward Together" towards racial equity and are helping create, in solidarity, a Long Island that is not divided by race.
Through ticket sales, sponsorships, journal advertisements, donations, and silent auction items, the 2015 Annual Benefit Reception raised over $200,000. These funds will help support ERASE Racism campaigns to advance racial equity in housing, education, and public health on Long Island and beyond.
