SCO Family of Services provides a comprehensive array of services to children and families throughout New York City and Long Island, helping 55,000 vulnerable New Yorkers to meet critical needs and build a strong foundation for their future. SCO aids in getting young children off to a good start, launching youth into adulthood, stabilizing and strengthening families and unlocking potential for children and adults with special needs. SCO has provided vital human services throughout New York City and Long Island for 125 years.

Under the leadership of President and CEO Keith M. Little, SCO launched its Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiative in September 2017. As part of the initiative, an anti-racism steering committee was formed and began meeting in January 2018. The steering committee became known as CARE (Committee Advocating Racial Equity) and works alongside SCO leadership encouraging and fostering courageous conversations about race and racial issues at SCO and in the communities they serve. SCO’s DEI initiative seeks to engage leaders at all levels of SCO to further diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout the organization.

Through services ranging from foster care placement and support, schools and residential services for individuals with special needs, family support services, residences for women in recovery, residences providing mental health services, homeless shelters, recreation and summer camp programs, and so much more, SCO meets the needs of New Yorkers who have been historically marginalized.

On Long Island, SCO facilities include the Westbrook School for students with autism, Robert J. McMahon Children’s Center serving children and adolescents with developmental disabilities, multiples group homes for adults with developmental disabilities, homeless shelters, Madonna Heights campus for women and girls, and the SCO Brentwood Office offering multiple services.

Keith M. Little was appointed President & CEO of SCO Family of Services on January 1, 2018. In this role, he is responsible for oversight of the agency’s extensive continuum of residential and community-based child welfare, early childhood, youth development, family support, special needs, and homeless services.

Mr. Little brings 30 years of experience at state, city, and nonprofit organizations, and expertise in the provision of mental health, health care, child welfare, and juvenile justice programs. He served as Associate Commissioner and Deputy Director at OMH, where he was responsible for the oversight of State Operations, and his experience includes posts at the Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services and the New York City Department of Health.

Mr. Little earned an MPA from Baruch College, City University of New York, and a bachelor’s degree from University of Bridgeport. He sits on the Boards of Directors of COFCCA; the Collaboration of Children and Families (CCF); the Priority and Strategy Council for the Human Services Council; Intellectual and Developmentally Disabled Child Welfare Collaboration; and the Black Agency Executives.
