Grounded in the belief that people of all backgrounds deserve quality and affordable housing, the company, under the leadership of founder and CEO David J. Gallo, has become the regional leader in structuring financing from public and private sources to build affordable, supportive, and senior developments that serve communities for generations.

Since founding the company in 2012, Mr. Gallo has closed on more than 1,000 affordable housing units with $500 million in total development costs.

ERASE Racism is proud to present its Leadership Award to Georgica Green Ventures for its achievements in building and operating affordable housing for low-income households, including many households of color.

Always up for a challenge, GGV strives to showcase that affordable housing can complement all communities. It has made a transformative mark on Long Island – and in the lives of its tenants – doing so. Its projects include:

  • Riverview Lofts, a storm recovery 116-unit development right in the heart of downtown Riverhead, featuring ground floor retail space and a rooftop terrace with beautiful views of the Peconic River.
  • Sandy Hollow Cove Apartments and Speonk Commons, a 66-unit scattered site development, with 28 units in Southampton and 38 transit-oriented units in Speonk, represents the first workforce housing built East of the Canal.
  • Sandy Hills Apartments in Middle Island, which reserves 50 units for formerly homeless veterans.
  • Grand Street Apartments, a modular construction of 77 units of affordable senior housing in Westbury.
  • Moxey A. Rigby Apartments, a $66 million disaster recovery development that will replace a public housing facility severely damaged by Superstorm Sandy in Freeport.

Georgica Green Ventures has also spearheaded affordable housing in New York City, including two complexes in Coney Island with support for domestic violence survivors and formerly homeless veterans.

Mr. Gallo is currently enrolled in the Harvard University Graduate School of Design's prestigious Advanced Management and Development Program in Real Estate. He was recently awarded the Top Smart-Growth Project for Riverview Lofts by Long Island Business News and was named one of New York's 10 rising stars in real estate by City & State New York. Mr. Gallo has also been honored by the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County, Long Island Progressive Coalition, NYS Association for Affordable Housing, Vision Long Island, and the National Development Corporation.

Mr. Gallo has served as President with the Italian Board of Guardians and the Hofstra Advisory Board. He is currently the treasurer for the Long Island Coalition for the Homeless and a member of the real estate committee for the LGBT Network.
